| Do I create art and stained glass? Glass and stained art...or, stained glass and art? The art came first--from the time I was a little girl I was drawing and slopping paint around. Later in high school I was introduced to pastels and oils. From there I took graphic arts instruction and the years of having "real" jobs began. From the newspaper, to secretarial and accounting, I always made time for some form of art in my life. It was my last official job in the corporate world of investment planning that put me over the edge toward making art my full time life. It was during this time that I started teaching myself stained glass and I loved it! Other life changes would lead me to having my own shop, Studio Works, which I operated for twelve years beginning in 1991. What a grand time that was! Studio Works became a business and a lifestyle specializing in stained glass giftware for retail and wholesale markets. At its peak, the studio operation had grown to ten employees and 16 wholesale reps. Two additional retail stores were opened in Siren and Eau Claire. During this time I also designed custom stained glass commissions for scores of clients, including Aveda founder, Horst Rechelbacher, former Minnesota Vikings player Scott Studwell, and Thomas C. Mahoney. The past seven years here at Catfish Corner have provided me many muses from spectacular scenery, woodland creatures and our domestic animal companions, to garden flowers and Mother Nature's wild flora. We are so blessed to live so close to nature. Expressing it in fine arts and stained glass is a passion. | Sherri Anderson |
